Sure it works, the feed is even (and was for a long time) aggregated on 
http://planet.openclipart.org
This reminds me of a feature I wanted to request for a long time: I 
think it would be very useful it the RSS feed would include a link to 
the thumbnail (I know is early and we don't have yet thumbnails and I 
know here is not the place to request features).
