An german lawyer explained me, that there is no exact picture given by the law 
(StVO) what the green walking man and the red stopping man have to look like.

The designers of Trafficlights are free to design any symbols and so they may 
load them with usage restrictions.

This caused a lot of trouble in the past. Different designers of 
Ampelmaennchen appeared before court several times.

Surely it would be a good thing to have a unique Public Domain Ampelmaennchen 
for all trafficlights in europe.
