[Clipart] Odd upload. Need advice, Susan Boyle fansite CD cover.

Thanks for your feedback John.

I think more to the point is these are questions for us as well. Are
we going to set a precedent about accepting CD or DVD covers? Do
covers fall under clipart category? I'm am open to that possibility,
but currently these ones do not satisfy OCAL's requirements for
upload. Nor do they satisfy my understanding of what clipart is, nor
what OCAL is intended for.

I created that email, as I like to give people the benefit of the
doubt, and an opportunity to better themselves or their work. One
thing I have learned is to ask questions. Asking questions gives me an
opportunity to learn, as well as clarifying any potential
misunderstandings. I do not -at all- like how we librarians/admins
make public remarks on the submissions, and especially for something
like these cliparts, I think we should find out more info before
deleting or removing them. There is potential to make OCAL better BY
accepting CD/DVD covers, and I can see some instances where having
svgs of those covers would be quite useful.

What we do now will start to set precedents. I want to make sure we
librarians and admins are all on the same page. If "yes" to covers,
then I would like to know. If "no" to covers then I would like to
know.

Just because we have images in the library that are "not-clipart" is
not good grounds to continue doing allowing them to be uploaded. Can
you show me these non-cliparts or be more specific about what you
mean? I would like to see them so I can help clean up the Library - if
needed. (The Example tagged files are fine - I went though them
before.)

I guess the following is also relevant to this kind of topic. I'm
getting frustrated with asking questions about "what do we do as
Admins in this case or that?", and not receiving adequate replies to
be able to do my job. I mean, yes, I can add tags, or make sure they
fit the page boundaries...but that's not all there is to the librarian
job.

I'm trying to make OCAL better. I refuse to get stuck on mediocre, and
at the moment I'm starting to feel that OCAL is not moving forward,
and maybe never will. I'm not getting replies to my questions, things
that were discussed 3 years ago -before I came onboard- are still
hassling OCAL now, when I bring ideas for improvement they are
discarded, and broken things aren't getting fixed.

How can we expect OCAL to grow and become the best it can if the
issues and questions raised aren't getting addressed? Maybe this is a
topic for a different, perhaps private, discussion...but there it is.
