Being new, and trying to get everything to work on a new board
looking through the commits, I am clueless what DAL is.

Searching the Web, I found [1]:

> DAL name is somewhat historic. We're trying to get away from it to. 
> Avoid confusion and. Set right direction. Maybe just “Display Core”

Has the goal changed? If not, could the commit message please be
revised?

Also it’s not clear to me, why 3.1.57 is left out (unstable/stable
scheme)?
