I really think we should set vm_needs_flush conditionally here. We try 
hard to avoid VM flushs when they are not needed because they affect the 
performance of all running applications. Anyway, this can be another patch.

It was also tested by Harish and Benjamin. There was no noticeable 
slowdown for large fills. And the timeouts are no longer observed (the 
test is still running, but fingers crossed).
