Nope; this fails at link time with this combination:
CONFIG_ACPI=y
CONFIG_ACPI_VIDEO=m
CONFIG_DRM=y

So the logical solution is to try
depends on (ACPI_VIDEO || ACPI_VIDEO=n)
But that leads me back to the rabbit hole of why I had the selects moved
to drm instead of drivers in the first place:
