[Authentication] Why does realmd use adcli and samba (net) to join a domain?

I'm trying to learn about Active Directory and integration with Linux using
realmd, but when I use "realmd join", it uses sssd, but it executes the
following commands:

/usr/sbin/adcli join ...
/usr/bin/net ... ads join ...

It looks like it's using adcli AND samba to join the domain (twice) ?

Can anybody help me understand?
