configure.ac contains the line "AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE([foreign 1.9
-Wall])", thus automake <= 1.8 will refuse to work with avahi anyway.

This is not under our control but under control of fd.o. Try to
convince fd.o to install SA or anything if you wish.
