Each window represents a part of an old British computer called an
"Elliott 803".  Each window  is a separate application and they all find
each other using avahi.  Having the glib event loop integration made
this really easy.  

Some of the apps are just servers and others are just clients and some
are both clients and servers.

Some of the apps also use openGL and one has an Open Dynamics
Environment model built in for some realistic 3d animations.
