Are you aware of this more or less complete list of software
supporting Avahi natively?

Does Mandrive package Rhythmbox or VLC? If yes, consider enabling
native support in those packages, too. And please note that there is
kdnssd-avahi which enables current KDE versions to make use of
Avahi. And finally, there's nss-mdns, which shouldn't be left out,
either.
