[avahi] Am I missing something?

avahi-browse says there is no daemon running.

Clearly, there is.

root at peachgrove # 	avahi-browse -a
Failed to create client object: Daemon not running

root at peachgrove # 	ps -ax | grep avahi
   881  	??  	Is     	0:00.09 avahi-daemon: running  
[peachgrove.local] (avahi-daemon)

Is there some secret I'm missing?
