What are you trying to do? Implement your own mDNS stack? That's not
a trivial task. 

The mDNS specification is available from:

http://files.multicastdns.org/draft-cheshire-dnsext-multicastdns.txt

Wireshark/Ethereal is perfectly capable of dissecting mDNS packets.
