[avahi] Failed to create client object: Daemon not running

Hello

I am attempting to run avahi-browse on a Debian lenny system.  I installed
all the packages from Debian lenny and run 'avahi-browse -v -a' and i get
the error on the subject line 'Failed to create client object: Daemon not
running'.  Anyone know why this is?
