[avahi] Newbie Question

I'm new to Avahi & just going through the readme & the source to understand what's going on. I'm planning to put avahi on one our devices running montavista Linux 2.6.18. I need only service registration (service publishing) so that my windows client can discover my device.

Can I take only the avahi-daemon & avahi-common & x-compile to make it work?
