[avahi] avahi-browse only shows services on local machine

I have a problem with one machine on my home network in that "avahi-browse -at" only shows services on the local machine.

Machine A: assigned ip address in the range 192.168.1.100 -> 150
"avahi-browse -at" only shows services on the local machine
Both wired (eth0) and wireless (eth1) interfaces exhibit the same problem.

Machine B: static ip address 192.168.1.200
"avahi-browse -at" shows services on all machines on the local network

If I take Machine A to the office, "avahi-browse -at" shows services on all machines on the local network.

Both Machine A and B are running the same version of the same distro. Both machines are connected to the same network, so I don't believe the router/wireless access point can be blocking anything.

Machine B is on all of the time, does the fact that the avahi daemon is running first on this machine prevent "avahi-browse" on machine A from seeing services on the rest of the local network?

Any troubleshooting suggestions would be much appreciated.

Regards
John
