Perhaps I chave choosen the wrong words.
Basically I think there is a difference between a rotated image and a
re-rendering of the tesselated polygons or ebven better the high-level
bezier paths.

Drawing lists (or in general metafiles) are about the latter, while
surfaces are about the former (or at least so I understand it)
