We can put notes up somewhere, (we're doing that in the email archives
already with these messages back and forth). But obviously we can't
change the files in the 1.0.4 release itself---it wouldn't be 1.0.4 if
we did that.
It might very well make sense to have a page on the cairographics.org
website indicating known bugs in the releases. That's something that
anyone has permission to do---so feel free to click the Login link and
register to create/edit a page like that.

Please address that comment to anyone that has described cairo as
"production-ready" to you. Don't forget that all the code in cairo is
explicitly marked as follows:

* the specific language governing rights and limitations.
