[cairo] hit detection for paths

what about the transformation matrix? Or am I missing something like:

cairo_path_t temp_path ;

temp_path = path * current_transformation_matrix ;

return cairo_path_distance( temp_path ... ) ;

(sorry if question looks fool... but I am pretty newbie with Cairo)
