[cairo] Cairo, glitz and gradients

Hi,

I'm working on some code that uses cairo and I was wanting to use the 
glitz backend.  My first question is whether cairo 1.0.4 fixes the build 
issues against glitz 0.5.3 that were reported here a while back?

Secondly, I notice that when I fill a rectangle using a linear gradient 
it appears to do the right thing when I use the X11 backend but seems to 
just give me a black box when I use the glitz backend.  Is this known? 
Is there a way to work around it?
