Oops. A little typo snuck in there between when I compiled this and
when I mailed it. To actually get the result seen in the image I sent,
the second line above should have an alpha value of 0.2, not 0.:

 	red = cairo_pattern_create_rgba (1.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.2);
