I didn't really expect anything different, (sorry if I wasn't clear
about that). I've never before heard an error report similar to yours
and I can't make much sense of the error message, (though I'm
definitely not a library linkage expert).

Consult your compiler/linker documentation on the diagnostic it's
giving you perhaps?
