No, I just changed configure.in to require 0.15 instead of 0.19, and
that worked just fine. I don't know what the details of the supposed
0.19 requirements are, (some buggy macros in some intermediate
versions I think), but Behdad assures me we can workaround the issues
involved to "officially" support older pkg-config.

Here's the bug he filed to remind himself of that issue:

	don't require pkg-config 0.19
