[cairo] cairo.svg

Hi,
Am trying to fiddle with svgs in cairo. I have seen a few samples that:
import cairo.svg, but I don't seem to have that module. Where can I get it? I 
have a problem in that I am on GTK2.8 and simply cannot compile or install 
GTK2.10 on my Kubuntu Dapper box -- it's just too full of old cruft.

(rsvg does not work for me at all.)
I'm on cairo 1.5.4 -- it compiled okay (thankfully.)
