[cairo] Memory (?) problems with master

I may have spoken too soon.  I believe the problem I am seeing is actually
in pixman, because cairo snapshot 1.9.2 combined with the current master
pixman still breaks. My previous build was based on pixman pulled on about
Jul. 21, and that worked fine.

I'm going to verify this by building with cairo master & the older pixman
sources, but that will take a little time.
