[cairo] Can't build Cairo/Pixman

Hello all,

I'm facing many levels of build dependency problems and am stuck. I need
Cairo 1.8.6 for GTK+, but Cairo requires Pixman (I'm using 0.14) which
cannot build due to an undefined reference in pango (g_assertion_message).
This is being done on SuSE 10.3.

Has anyone else experienced this problem or have suggestions on how to fix
it?
