[colord] colord does not start automatically in gnome-3.10.x

Thanks - I was missing the directory /var/lib/colord

..but apart from that I still get the errors pasted below and when I compile colord, I get many warnings of the form:

(lt-cd-create-profile:31614): libcolord-WARNING **: Invalid UTF-8 in string ????????????? X11 ????????????? sRGB?

Is this some kind of UTF-8 issue? If so, what do I need to do to solve it?
