Just a quick query, is this an all-or-nothing proposal or can some bits 
be split out? e.g. the C++ bit... I'd imagine it's the most 
controversial part of the proposal.

I'm in no position to comment in any sort of educated way about C vs. 
C++ in compiz, but I'd generally suspect that C would still be the 
preferred route by most developers even if it is more effort.
