[compiz] compiz works really strange with external monitor

Maybe the following description would help a bit to find a reason ?
I have similar example. It wasn't always like this, it started in the past after one of upgrades of compiz (months ago, I think shortly after beryl-compiz merge). It may be also due to upgrade of Xorg (from 1.2 to 1.3).

The virtual size of my screen is 1280x1024, display resolution is 1024x768. When screensaver is started it usually displays only on part of the screen (of size 1024x768 or a bit smaller), like on the following "sketch":

+----------------.----+
|screen 1280x1024.    |
|     +----------.----+
|     |          .    |
| | screen saver | ..... dots mark out boundaries of visible area
|.....|...........    |
|     |  <= 1024x768  |
+-----+---------------+

However sometimes (rarely) screensaver starts on the whole 1280x1024 area. I could not find any rule.

The result of the mentioned xinerama test is always the same:
Head 0: num 0, Origin 0 0, Size 1280 1024

It happens with different kinds of hardware and in different Linux distributions.

Regards.
Artur
