[CREATE] the media

it would be nice to have some media coverage. my favorite would be Jian 
Ghomeshi <http://www.cbc.ca/q/> hosting his show from inside the 
Cyclorama <http://panospace.wordpress.com/2009/04/19/beam-me-up-vincent/>

I have two indirect contacts at CBC / Radio-Canada and some more 
indirect contact to smaller media.

If you want to chime in, add your voice on Q's feedback form or 
otherwise make the media aware, this is the text I've been sending around.

For years a pioneering movement has been preaching the free flow and 
re-use of ideas in different fields of human activity, amongst other 
arts and technology.

In the world of technology it is Free software (capital F), which gives 
users the power to have any functionality they need, whether they exist 
or not. Free and unconditional access to the source code gives the user 
ultimate control without having to ask anyone's permission or pay 
licensing or usage fees.

In the world of arts, Creative Commons has more recently introduced a 
similar concept and conceived licenses that while respecting copyright 
law give the user a set of standard permissions allowing re-use and 
re-mix under certain conditions.

Is this subversion? idealism? pragmatism? everyone finds what they like 
in it. Creators and users of Free software from around the world in the 
field of graphic design meet each year. At its fourth edition, the Libre 
Graphics Meeting will be held in Montreal at Ecole Polytechnique from 6 
to 9 May [0].

At the same time, artists who use Free software expose breathtaking 
ultra wide view images on a 3D screen, printed in large format, and on a 
website [1].

Il existe depuis quelques années un mouvement avant gardiste mondial qui 
préconise la libre circulation et réutilisation des idées. Il se 
manifeste dans différentes champs d'activité humaine, dont l'art et la 
technologie.

En technologie, c'est les logiciels libres qui donnent à l'usager le 
pouvoir de se doter de toute fonctionnalité dont il a besoin, qu'elles 
existent ou pas. Avec l'accès inconditionnel au code source du logiciel 
l'usager a le contrôle ultime sans devoir demander la permission à 
personne ni payer des licences ou droits d'usage.

En art, Creative Commons a introduit plus récemment un concept 
similaire; des licences que tout en respectant les droits d'auteurs 
donnent des permissions standard permettant la réutilisation et la copie 
sous certaines conditions.

Est-ce de la subversion? de l'idéalisme? du pragmatisme? tout le monde y 
trouve son compte. Des créateurs et utilisateurs de logiciel libres dans 
la domaine du graphisme de partout dans le monde se rencontrent à chaque 
année. à sa quatrième édition, le Libre Graphics Meeting aura lieu à 
Montréal à l'École Polytechnique du 6 au 9 mai [0].

En même temps des artistes qui utilisent ces logiciels libres exposent 
des images époustouflantes sur un écran 3D, imprimées en grand format, 
et sur un site web [1].
