Go for it! A press release about last year's fundraiser

donations (279), and the speed of it all (2 week campaign), and maybe
giving names of major or well-known donors (Michael Tiemann, Paul
Frields, Bdale Garbee, Eric Sink, Stephen O'Grady, Chris Messina, Steven
Garrity stand out on a quick browse) would be a good start.

The campaign also got a lot of community support - other donor names
that stand out for me are names like Andy Fitz, Behdad Esfahbod, Vincent
Untz, Dave Neary, Jon Phillips, Andreas Nilssen, Louis Desjardins,
Nicolas Spalinger, David Crossland, Garrett Lesage - people from the
community who wanted to support the event, but not necessarily
well-known outside.

All these names are in the public donor list, and thus can be used for
publicity purposes.

The campaign from last year generated 60,000 page views over the 2 week
period, with over 6,000,000 badge sightings (there is a referral from
the campaign badge to the site on load) during the campaign.
