Well gimpstuff is part of opendesktop... OpenDesktop uses different domain name 
to present different category of files that are focused on a specific application 
(like gimpstuff) or group of applications (like kde-files).

As you can see, those two links show the same files:

http://opentemplate.org/index.php?xcontentmode=630

You would need to talk with opendesktop admin to make sure that the 
brushes/pattern/gradient for krita on kde-files and for gimp on gimpstuff are 
the same.

Then it does not matter where the user upload the brushes/patterns/... if they 
use krita, they will probably go to kde-files, if they use gimp they will go to 
gimpstuff, and in the end, the brushes will be available by both community, 
even if they don't know about it.
