If the rewriter is going to be the new maintainer, sure. ;-) I am not
effective at even editing perl, it looks like line noise to me.

In fact I'd love a new maintainer for pkg-config whether it's rewritten
or not; I am basically useless at maintaining it. I've been thinking I
should convince James H to do it. ;-)
