error in compiling dbus

hi ppl,
 i am compiling hal, and when i try to execute it, i get the following log
message..
dbus_bus_get(): Failed to connect to socket
/usr/local/var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: Connection refused

what is the cause of the error?
