Fwd: Compiling GLib

Hello All,
  I'm trying to compile dbus-glib-0.73.tar.gz but running into the
following errors when I do ./configure.

....
checking pkg-config is at least version 0.9.0... yes
checking for DBUS... Requested 'dbus-1 >= 0.93' but version of dbus is 0.20
configure: error: DBus development libraries not found

I have dbus-1.0.2  and pkgconfig-0.14.0 installed. How so I get past this error?
