Looking at the code and backtraces, I don't have a guess what's 
happening. You might try building dbus yourself and adding some more 
assertions or debug output and see if you can get it to fail earlier or 
otherwise discover what is going wrong.

You would certainly expect to see this if threads weren't initialized so 
you simply had no locks, but since one of the threads has 
_dbus_pthread_mutex_lock in the backtrace, that does not look likely.

If you can track it down a bit more then please feel free to send more info.
