Need to know client/caller pid on the server side

It will at least be useful to know if your program works on a desktop 
machine - if it does, the problem may have to do with the kernel on the 
embedded system. Also, I'm not sure we can help you more without a 
single-file test case we can compile ourselves - I don't have any more 
ideas without more info, anyway.
