Problems starting D-Bus on Mac OS X

This is a fresh installation of D-Bus and when I go to do a dbus-launch from
the CLI I get the following error message:
$ dbus-launch
Failed to start message bus: In D-Bus address, character '+' should have
been escaped

EOF in dbus-launch reading address from bus daemon

Please help.
