problems with dbus

I just installed RedHat 6.0 i386 web server on an older system.  I am having
problems with the dbus.

Each time I install or upgrade using yum, the last message is that there is
a problem with dbus.  The program seems to be installed.

When I try to start up gdm, I get the message
gdm-binary:13106):  WARNING **: Couldn't connect ot system bus:  Failed to
connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_sub_socket.

When I try to restart or start messagebus.

service messagebus start
Starting system message bus:  Unknown username "rtkit" in message bus
configuration file
Unknown username "haldaemon" in message bus configuration file
Unknown username "pulse" in message bus configuration file
Unknown usrename "avahi" in message bus configuration file
Failed to start message bus:  Could not get UID and GID for username "dbus"

What went wrong with the installation?
