Temporarily suspending / disabling a D-Bus events queue

Hello,

Is it possible to selectively / indiscriminately suspend or disable
D-Bus events?

I would like to suspend notification events
(org.freedesktop.Notifications) during X screen lock. Currently, I
send STOP/CONT signals to notification-daemon
(http://git.gnome.org/browse/notification-daemon/), but this is not
too reliable, since the daemon is apparently restarted from time to
time.
