I would like this patch series to not be considered for merge to
mainline Linux until the D-Bus maintainers have had a chance to confirm
that the design of the kernel and user-space parts of kdbus are, or can
be made to be, compatible with traditional D-Bus; and that they are, or
can be, at least as secure and DoS-resistant as traditional D-Bus.
I have already started on this, because I didn't want kdbus to be
presented as a fait accompli and then to discover weeks or months later
that porting existing D-Bus things to kdbus would introduce new security
flaws or break API guarantees that existing code relies on. However, I'm
not there yet, and AIUI the other D-Bus maintainers have not reviewed
this stuff at all.
Last time kdbus was raised on the dbus mailing list, its status was
"don't look at it, it's not ready yet", as far as I understand it. As
such, now that we're looking at it, we need time to do so.
