Working around platform limitations on GetConnectionUnixProcessID?

Hi,

As far as I understand it is impossible to have a working GetConnectionUnixProcessID request on Darwin (Mac OS). That's rarely a problem but now I'm running into a case where it is.

Rather than trying to hack the dbus-daemon I wonder if I couldn't simply add a way to query the server application for its pid directly.?

I haven't ever written anything like this so a few pointers (e.g. to a suitable skeleton example) would be really appreciated.
