Summary: Make Sans Italic a true italic?
Product: DejaVu
Version: unspecified
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: Sans
AssignedTo: dejavu-bugs at lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: baums at u.washington.edu
DejaVu Sans Italic is currently not a true italic face, but on oblique face.
This is about characters such as Latin âaâ and Cyrillic âа,â âг,â âÑâ etc. that
do not actually change to their proper italic shape but only get slanted
(contrast Serif normal and Serif Italic). Is there a reason for not having a
real Sans Italic, or is it just low on the list of priorities? (Is there a
policy of preserving glyph shape identity with the Bitstream Vera fonts?)
Thanks,
Stefan
