Explanation: this was fixed in version 2.18 only
<http://dejavu.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/News>.  My KUbuntu distribution
contains version 2.5 <http://packages.ubuntu.com/dapper/x11/ttf-dejavu>; thus,
it is not strange at all that I encountered this problem.
