Hence the term "e.g." - it means "for example".

No, it is not a goal for policy agents like gnome-power-manager to be
desktop neutral - in fact, it's an anti-goal.

(Of course I wasn't suggesting devkit-power should be using GConf - I
mean, that thing should not be involved in policy _at all_ so the point
is totally moot.)
