Could I get some feedback on this?  There are real use-cases for this.
distributed-net's a good example: it's a 'use-your-spare-cpu-cycles'
daemon and it turns itself off when you're on battery.  hdparm is
another example.

The decision about powersave-mode and such needn't be made a priori by
dk-p, but could be made by the distribution in whether to ship the
powersave-mode power.d script as part of pm-utils.  The power.d
mechanism doesn't strike me as inherently bad.
