mmm, i had try to revert mesa,kernel,drm,xf86-ati when i'm sure it was working.
(
13/01/11). and i have the same problem.

i'm using archlinux, so rolling release, maybe an external library was
updated....

i see libjpeg updated to 8.3 the 19/01...

i'll search in this direction.
