I can now reproduce this consistenly I think:
Install Ubuntu Precise
Add xorg-edgers ppa
Create a 2:nd user
Log in as user 1
Switch to user 2
Switch to user 1

Then when you have unlocked user 1's screen with your password and it redraws
the desktop I get a GPU reset loop.
