Update, 

I tried doing a git-bisect today. I only tried out kernel 3.18 rc3 which was
bad and had the same issue, and then I directly checkout kernel back to 3.8 in
which the issue was still occuring. 

So this means that there was no solution for this bug at all with the exception
of catalyst driver?
