Setting plane->fb is wired somewhere in the atomic update logic, see
__setplane_internal() function in drivers/gpu/drm/drm_crtc.c. Some more
comments
are also in the drm_atomic_clean_old_fb() function in
drivers/gpu/drm/drm_atomic.c
However I don't know the exact call path.
