If that's the issue, I assure you nowadays you can hit it quite
reliably, at least on my iBook G4. (Which, by the way is also hanging
randomly on 5.7-rc5, for apparently unrelated reasons; I haven't
bisected yet, but fortunately I can do it on the G5 while keeping
what's left of my sanity.)
